Evan is a Seward native, who recently moved back to the area with his family. He started his martial arts career in taekwondo at a young age and studied several forms until earning his black belt in ATA. While working towards his black belt he found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, having been invited to be the "bad guy" for the women's empowerment class his wife attended, he then signed up for his own trial and kept coming back until he earned his blue belt and attained instructor certification in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
Teaching comes naturally to Evan, as he was quickly pulled into instructor courses when he was found teaching other students during his first ATA class. Since then, he's worked to help students be the best they can be and to share the benefits of martial arts by creating safe and comfortable spaces for everyone to come and train together.
When not training he enjoys spending time with his family, running, playing board games, and reading. He's excited to be bringing Jiu-Jitsu to Seward and the surrounding communities!
