Questions? We (probably) have the answers!
How do I sign up for a free trial?
Schedule your free trial with us by filling out the contact form with all of your details and reserve a spot in a class you would like to try out, or stop by and talk with our instructors before or after class time and they'll help you get signed up.
Is Jiu-Jitsu Safe? What about injuries?
Safety is our top priority. We teach controlled techniques, emphasize proper warm-ups, and encourage training at a comfortable pace. Injuries are rare when training responsibly.
Will I have to spar (roll) right away?
No. Beginners focus on fundamentals first, and sparring is introduced gradually when you're ready.
What sets you apart from other schools?
We are a community of people that share the same journey as you. We are here to build each other up - if you win, we all win. You'll hear this a lot as we focus on technique over strength.
How often do you recommend coming to classes?
We recommend beginners coming to class at least 1-2 times a week as consistency is the best way to build muscle memory.
Do I need prior experience to start?
No! Our classes are designed for all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners.
Do I have to be fit to join?
No! BBJ uses body leverage and can work with all body types from small children to the elderly and every shape in-between.
What should I wear/bring to my first class?
Comfortable athletic wear is fine for trail classes (T-shirt + shorts, or rash guard if you have it.) A gi (uniform) is required later - we can help you choose one!
Is Jiu-Jitsu good for self-defense?
Yes! BJJ focuses on using leverage on opponents (instead of strength only) and defending yourself from the ground, making it highly practical for real-world situations.
Do you offer family discounts?
Yes! BJJ is a great family lifetime sport, ask us at your trial or next class about our family membership options.

You don't have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great.
